Industrial Sewing of a Polyester Equipment Cover for Aviation Equipment
Project description:
At John Boyt Industrial Sewing, we combine advanced sewing technology with cutting edge materials to fabricate products for a wide range of applications. The project highlighted here was designed, engineered, and fabricated by us for the specific needs of an aviation equipment manufacturer. They required an equipment shroud that was tough and light, and would provide their equipment with protection from extreme cold, and be easy to install. To meet these requirements we selected vinyl coated polyester, and lined it with a Nomex felt insulator. Once the cover is installed it is fastened with hook and loop fasters.
Forming of the raw material was performed on our Gerber computerized cutter, a traveling head press, and our hot knife cutter, the components were then dimensionally inspected before being sewn together on our Adler 267 single needle sewing machine. Measuring 12″ x 14″ x 10″, the 25 finished pieces received continuous in-process inspection as well as a final inspection.
