Industrial Sewing of a Frame Cover for the Underground Boring Equipment Industry

Project description:

A manufacturer of underground boring equipment needed 10 custom covers for one of their product lines. The nature of this working environment required the use of not only durable sewing techniques, but also robust materials that could withstand years of abuse.

At John Boyt Industrial Sewing, we have over 25 years of experience manufacturing quality products with a wide range of materials. This vast knowledge base allowed us to select the most robust materials for this application, as well as sewing processes that would deliver strength and a long service life.

The protective cover was designed to be water resistant, and allow visual inspection of the boring equipment beneath. The cover was composed of 14 oz. vinyl coated polyester, 20 Mil double polished clear vinyl, with polypropylene webbing, and heavy duty metal hardware. It featured dimensions of 20” in width, 24” in height, and 12” in length; it was fabricated to tolerances of ±.1”. Individual components were formed using our advanced Gerber computerized cutter, an automatic hot knife, as well as die cutting. These compounds were then assembled on our 267 Adler single needle sewing machine, and a 10kw RF bar sealer. This entire project from design to delivery was completed in just 14 days.
